It is hard to believe that 50 years have
flown by so fast!!
Since the start of the year, the Reunion
Committee has been busy planning the 50th
reunion which has been scheduled for
August 15 & 16, 2014. Please save this
weekend on your calendar and start planning
your reunion weekend getaway. We have

resort type atmosphere. Even if you live in
the Metro area, take a few days out of your
hectic schedule and come celebrate with all
of your old buddies at the “weekend getaway".
The committee has scheduled a fun-filled,
laid-back weekend that will provide lots of
time to visit with old friends and to renew

The 50th reunion activities are open not
only to LHS graduates, but also to all
persons who attended LHS during the early
60's. Our spouses, children and friends and
persons from other LHS classes are also most
certainly welcome. The committee will be
asking several LHS instructors to attend the
reunion activities which will add even more
fun to the reunion weekend.
KICKOFF
RECEPTION. Friday, August 15, 2014; 6 PM to
10 PM.
Reunion weekend activities
will begin with the Kickoff Reception
scheduled for Friday night at The Lone
Tree Golf Club and Hotel (9808
Sunningdale Blvd, Lone Tree, CO, http://www.golflonetree.com.
As you will see from their website, Lone
Tree is a spectacular setting which provides
a “weekend getaway” ambience to the reunion.
The Kickoff Reception will be an informal
get together to give everyone a chance to
get reacquainted. A light meal in the form
of a taco bar will be featured and is
included with your reunion weekend
registration. A cash bar will be available
at the reception. There is plenty of
adjacent parking; the hotel is wheelchair
accessible. Don't be bashful; come and get
reacquainted. You will be surprised to find
how quickly all of those years melt away.
You will also find that you are not the only
person who looks just like they did in high
school (well………. sort of).
WESTERN
WELCOME WEEK AND PARADE.
Saturday, August 16, 2014; 2014; 9:00 AM
to noon. We have
scheduled the Reunion Weekend to coincide
with the final weekend of Western Welcome
Week (WWW). For those of you who have not
been back to WWW for the past several years,
you will be amazed how it has grown. The
parade itself is now one of Colorado’s
largest and participants attend from all
over the State. The dates for WWW next year
are from Thursday, August 8 through Sunday,
August 17 overlapping with our Reunion on
its last weekend. Activities are planned by
WWW for every day of this multi-day event so
there will be plenty to do. One of the main
events of the week, of course, is the WWW
parade which is still held on Main Street;
the parade is now nearly 2 hours long. Next
year will be the 86th Annual parade which
will be held on Saturday, August 16 starting
at 10:00 AM. Please note, that the WWW
committee has just finished with the 2013
week plans, but you can see the variety of
events that were planned for 2013 at
http://www.westernwelcomeweek.org.
The 2014 schedule will begin showing up on
their website soon after the first of the
year, but it will closely follow the 2013
schedule. There are a lot of events to share
with classmates.
Several of us will meet on the morning of
the 16th for the parade and to
walk around downtown Littleton to visit the
many arts, crafts and food booths located
there. Info on where and when we will meet
will follow in subsequent e-mailings.
REUNION
DINNER. Saturday, August 16, 2014; 6 PM to
11 PM.
The highlight of the weekend will be the
reunion dinner at Lone Tree Golf Club
http://www.golflonetree.com. A
great dinner is planned and there will be
plenty of .
There will be plenty of great food and lots
of moldy oldies (music that is). Dress will
be informal and the atmosphere will be
laid-back; Summer sportswear is encouraged.
The Reunion Dinner will be held in the main
ballroom at Lone Tree, but, since we have
block-reserved all of the club’s 15 rooms
for the night, the entire facility will be
ours. See Accommodations below to see about
making reservations for either the Lone Tree
or the nearby Hampton Inn by Hilton.
The reunion committee’s intent is to provide
you ample opportunity to visit with old
friends and to renew acquaintances. While we
will have plenty of 60s music to entertain
you, it will not be so loud as to interfere
with your conversations. A separate dance
floor area will be located on an adjacent
level if you feel like “Twisting the Night
Away”. If you want to have a quiet
conversation, there are several terraces and
locations around the club where you can have
some privacy while enjoying some of that
fresh Colorado air.
DINNER MENU.
We
have arranged for a wonderful dinner buffet
which will accommodate a wide variety of
diets. Chicken Picatta, Sliced Sirloin with
Bordelaise
Sauce and Potato Encrusted Cod will be the
featured main courses. The buffet will also
feature a baked potato bar, a vegetable
medley, mixed green salad and fruit salad.
If you have special dietary needs, let us
know and the chefs will try to accommodate
you. A cash bar will be provided for your
choice of adult beverages. Lone Tree’s
policy does not allow us to bring in our own
food or adult beverages.
Sunday, August 17, 2014.
We have not planned any special events for
Sunday August 17 as we have in the past.
Rather, we hope that you will take the
opportunity to meet up with friends as your
schedule permits. Both hotels offer a
continental breakfast and there are many
great restaurants in the area if you want to
visit over breakfast.
HOTEL ACCOMMODATIONS.
Both the Friday night kickoff reception and
the Saturday night Reunion Dinner main event
will be held at the Lone Tree Golf Club
and Hotel (9808 Sunningdale Blvd, Lone
Tree, CO,
http://www.golflonetree.com.
As you tour their website, you will begin to
feel the “Getaway Weekend” ambience that the
committee is wishing to impart. Lone Tree is
a beautiful and relaxing setting; you’ll
just feel yourself unwind as soon as you
arrive.
For those who will be traveling some
distance, we have made a block reservation
for LHS at Lone Tree and at the nearby
Hampton Inn by Hilton with a rate of just
$99 per room per night. Several of us who
live in the metro area are also planning to
stay overnight allowing us to celebrate
without the worry of traveling home late at
night (jeez, sounds like some old geezers).
If we rent all of the rooms at Lone Tree, we will have
the entire facility to ourselves. For those
wishing to come early or stay later than the
reunion weekend dates, you can extend your
stay at the same group rate. See Lone Tree’s
list of amenities listed on their website.
For you golfers, your Lone Tree Hotel
reservation includes unlimited range balls,
complimentary club rentals and a round of
golf at the discounted “in district” rate
for the day of your stay. The current “in
district” rate is $49 per person with golf
carts available for $15 per rider. We will
be organizing at least one golf outing
during the weekend; more if the interest is
there. For you non-golfing athletes, several
tennis courts are available on site and Lone
Tree provides a complimentary pass to their
nearby fitness center and pool. The rooms
are wonderfully appointed and views are
gorgeous.
Assuming that the Lone Tree hotel rooms will
quickly fill up, the reunion committee has
also block-reserved 20 additional rooms at
the nearby Hampton Inn by Hilton. Hampton
Inn will also honor the same $99 per night
room rate. Lone Tree has agreed to honor the
same complimentary golf, tennis and fitness
center amenities to those staying at Hampton
Inn. Both hotels include a complimentary
continental breakfast with each night’s stay
at their respective hotel. Hampton Inn also
has a complimentary shuttle service to/from
nearby Lone Tree.
Reservations for rooms must be made
by YOU directly with Lone Tree by calling
303.790.0202. Once the 15 rooms at Lone Tree
are booked, you can call Hampton Inn at
303.643.4804. You must tell the
reservationist that you are with the
Littleton High School class of '64 and give
them the date(s) which you plan to stay to
be sure that you get the special rate.
The special LHS rates do not apply if you
make your reservations on the internet.
You may immediately begin booking your room
reservations. Several Committee members
have made reservations already, so you’d
better hurry to get your reservation in. The
cutoff date for reservations for this
special rate is July 15, 2014. After
that date, rooms will be available only on a
space and rate-available basis. Be sure to
check with your hotel as to their room
reservation cancellation policy at the time
you make your reservations.
REUNION WEEKEND COSTS.
The TOTAL reunion fee is $85
per person. This cost covers the Friday
night taco bar, Saturday night dinner
buffet, gratuity, and taxes, as well as
other reunion costs for such items as the
venue for both nights, name tags,
decorations, photography, class website,
reunion mailing costs, etc. You should note
that to keep reunion costs to a minimum, the
reunion committee has done all of the
planning and coordination for this event
rather than having it planned by a third
party; this results in the maximum “bang for
the buck”.
Please complete the accompanying Reunion
Weekend Reservation Form and return to Sue
(Hunt) Eloe with your check no later than
July 28, 2014. Please fill the form out
completely; this will make our job just that
much easier. Make checks payable to the
LHS Class of '64. Due
to our contract with Lone Tree, we will be
unable to provide refunds for canceled
Reunion Weekend Reservations received after
August 1, 2014. Remember, your hotel
reservations / cancellations must all be
made directly by you with the hotel and
those reservations are separate from the
reunion weekend reservations.
CAN’T MAKE THE REUNION?
If
you are unable to make it to the reunion
weekend, we will be preparing a bulletin
board to display letters and pictures. Send
us a recent picture (either electronic or
hard copy) and a note as to what you have
been up to since graduation and we will see
that it gets posted.
PHOTOGRAPHY.
Be
sure to bring your camera!!! Additionally we
will be providing an event photographer who
will try to capture the essence of the
weekend activities. Photos will be posted on
the website for viewing by all.
